Use Contech Chemshrink on your drop.
Points to consider.
- Migration from QPSK to 16 QAM (64 QAM) upstream exposes deeper level of problems with the return
- VoIP real time no FEC, more susceptible to drop impairments.
- Subscribers do not want to repeatedly set aside time for multiple service calls.
- The industry average on service calls is still in the range of 3% of all subscribers per month (or visit each subscriber every 3 years).
These service calls are broken down to:
- Customer education – 1%
- Cut cables, disconnects and churn – 1%
- Loose connectors / ingress – 1%
- Subscriber drops represent 70% of the CATV plant mileage, and 90% of the problems.
- As much as 80% to 90% of noise and ingress on the plant is generated at the Subscriber site
- Loose Connectors are a major source of ingress and egress (leakage) and Pre / Post FEC (Forward Error Correction) BER (Bit Error Rate).
